These Celebs Got the Most Headlines in 2016
Here at Galore, we devote a lot of time to writing about celebrities, or at least I do.
Some would say it’s a calling while others would say it’s a waste of a college degree, but the joke’s on them, because I went to school for theatre, so my degree’s useless anyway.
Anyway, today a question popped into my head that I’d never thought to ask before: which celebs did we spend the most time writing about this year?
While it was easy for both me and every single one of my co-workers to correctly guess who we wrote about the most, what actually surprised was who rounded out the top 10, and how much distance was between them all.
But enough about me, here’s who we wrote about most this year:
Kylie Jenner: 110
Kim Kardashian: 107
Taylor Swift: 89
Kendall Jenner: 77
Justin Bieber: 67
Rihanna: 61
Gigi Hadid: 57
Kanye West: 47
Selena Gomez: 41
Beyoncé: 31
While for instance it makes perfect sense that warring squad leaders Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner should be holding it down in third and fourth place respectively, with a mere 12-headline difference between them, this list blows my mind for a couple of reasons.
For one, I can’t believe the race between Kylie and Kim was so close. 2016 was definitely the year Kylie eclipsed Kim as the dominant Kardashian, especially toward the end, and I thought our headlines would reflect that more.
But then again, in the months of silence since Kim’s robbery, it can be easy to forget just how good at social media and pushing the envelope on what was acceptable to wear in public Kim was. That’s where she got us.
Secondly, I can’t believe we wrote that much about Rihanna. Seriously, it blows my mind. In my mind, we write about Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid way more often than Rihanna, but apparently I’m significantly wrong.
Last of all, I’m surprised Miley Cyrus didn’t make the list.
She came close too, but Beyoncé beat her out by six headlines, which is completely fair seeing as Bey put out one of the biggest and most talked about albums of the year and Miley’s biggest news story was that she reunited with the love of her life.
Sorry Liam, but as much as I may loath her, you’re just no competition for Becky with the good hair.
