Selena Can’t Wait For Everybody to “Forget About” Her
Besides swearing up and down that their only beauty secret is they drink a boatload of water and slap on some moisturizer before bed, one of the more unrealistic-sounding claims that comes out of celebrity mouths is that they can’t wait for the day when they’re not famous anymore.
Like Selena Gomez, who just told Vogue she can’t wait for people to “forget her.”
This particular admission came at the end of a fun fact-filled feature which revealed how many times Selena Gomez goes to therapy a week (5), how many people have her cell phone number (17), and how many frozen ingredients she uses to make a “so bad it’s good” cheese potatoes recipe (one too many).
And then, right as the interview was about to end, Selena slipped in the following statement:
“Look, I love what I do, and I’m aware of how lucky I am, but – how can I say this without sounding weird? I just really can’t wait for people to forget about me.”
Because you want people to “forget about” you.
Look, there’s nothing wrong with celebrities saying they wish they weren’t so famous, but it’s just hard to take seriously when very public celebrities who are actively promoting themselves say it.
If Selena really wanted people to forget about her she could have extended her break from being famous and stayed under the radar for a couple of years.
