Selena Gomez Just Announced She’s Taking a Break From Fame

Bad news for Selena stans: your girl is going off the grid for an unidentified amount of time.

Yesterday Selena Gomez released a statement explaining how now that her Revival world tour is over, she needs to take a break from this fame thing so she can focus on her health.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena said in a statement. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

The statement continued:

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Than you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”

Sources close to Gomez have reached out to People to clarify that when she says she needs some time off to deal with Lupus-related side effects, she’s not lying. They claim her break has nothing to do with “alcohol and substance abuse,” and that “she feels relieved that she can now make more sense of why she was feeling the way she was and is optimistic about the future.”

It worth nothing that the last couple of months have been especially rough on Selena.

In June, her close friend Christina Grimmie was murdered while signing autographs after a concert by one of her fans.

In July, her BFF T Swift was exposed as a liar and at great personal cost, Selena came to her defense and ended up getting into some trouble of her own.

In August, she got into an online tiff with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, which allegedly resulted in him deleting his Instagram and not taking her apology calls.

Feel better soon bb.
