The real reason behind Kate Moss’s resting bitch face in this campaign
Pretty much everything Kate Moss did in the 90s was iconic, like the campaign she did for Calvin Klein’s Obsession fragrance, which catapulted her to a life of not waking up for less than $10,000 a day.
And Raf Simons, currently the chief creative officer at Calvin Klein clearly agrees, because he just released some previously unseen footage from the campaign
“It is a story of an iconic and inspiring moment in fashion photography as much as a deeply personal and human love story,” Raf wrote in a statement.
But what dear old Raf didn’t get into was that while yes, Kate and Mario Sorrenti, the photographer of the campaign, were dating at the time, their relationship was also the reason for the resting bitch face she was giving in so many of the photos.

In an interview Kate Moss did for SHOWstudio, she was asked to explain the story behind one of the images for the campaign where she’s lying down naked, ass side up on a couch.
“He was obsessed,” Kate explained. “I would wake up in the morning and he’d be taking pictures of me. And I’d be like, ‘fuck off.’ I laid like that for ten days, he would not stop taking pictures of me.”
“We split up after that cuz the thing is like, when you’re in a relationship with a photographer and they start abusing that relationship of being like, ‘I want you to do this, I want you to do that,’” Kate continued, before getting interrupted by her male interviewer who basically said, uh yeah Kate, but you were super hot, so I get why your photographer boyfriend wanted to take pictures of you all the time.
Undeterred Kate continued, saying, “I know but I think it was because I was… I didn’t want to work all the time. He’d be like, ‘Get up on the roof. Take your clothes off,’ and I’d be like, ‘Fuck off. I don’t wanna do that.’”
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, it’s never a good idea to take on a creative project with your boyfriend. It almost always blows up in your face, although at least in Kate’s case she was the one who got hella famous from it.
