The Trailer For Nasty Gal’s TV Show Is Here & Corny

If you’ve been keeping up with Nasty Gal as of late, you’ve probably realized that their sale to a bigger brand was kind of a dumpster fire and they’ll probably never be the go-to thot attire e-tailer that you once knew. You may have even seen that Sophia Amoruso, the founder, shaded the new owners of her old brand for not having their shit together.

But now, the Girlboss brand is coming out with more news, and it’s not necessarily bad news.

Netflix is launching a series based on Sophia Amoruso’s book, #Girlboss, which details the history of how she went from dumpster diving to having one of the fastest growing retailers of the time.

We think Sophia’s story is dope, and we loved Nasty Gal in their prime, but we’re not super impressed with this trailer.

The actress looks like she’s trying to fill her cooler big sister’s shoes and failing, and what’s with the one-liners that nobody would ever say in real life? Like, let me know when the last time you told your fuckbuddy that he “better grab some red bulls and some band aids,” ‘cuz you’re going to fuck him up.

Sophia Amoruso is surely a badass, but the way this script looks to be written makes the actress playing her look like a wannabe. I mean, try to watch that last scene in the trailer without rolling your eyes. The series was written by the same person who wrote Pitch Perfect, and it shows.

It’s also awkward because from the looks of the trailer, Nasty Gal is not mentioned by name at all and neither is Sophia Amoruso. This is likely a branding and business decision, but it’s convenient since Nasty Gal is not necessarily in a good light right now.

We know that it’s a lot easier to lounge on the couch and watch TV, but this is one of those times where you might want to just read the book, or at least read it before watching the series.
