Now, on the Yelp site or via their app, you can see which restaurants have gender neutral bathrooms. They explained on their blog that their definition of gender neutral bathrooms are any restrooms that are available to “persons of any gender and are a locking, single-stall.”
So just because a restaurant has a gender neutral bathroom according to Yelp doesn’t mean they went out of their way to be LGBTQ, it may just mean that they’ve always had single stall bathrooms or just didn’t have enough space to make two separate restrooms.
Either way, it’s a good tool to have available, especially in states with laws affecting trans people who are simply trying to pee.

If you’re an app user, you can do your part by answering if a restaurant you visited has gender neutral bathrooms or not in the app.
Yelp’s Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Rachel Williams, told Buzzfeed News that this feature was aimed specifically in retaliation to the Trump’s administrations recent attacks on the trans community.
Looks like Yelp is awesome for more than just helping you choose which place to order take-out from, yay!
