Why You Should Maybe Stop Posting ‘Candid’ Laughing Pics On Insta
Of the many awesome things celebs have, one is the fact that there are professional photographers following them around and capturing awesome candid photos of them 24/7.
Unfortunately, most of us don’t have professional photographers capturing our candid moments. Maybe if you’re lucky enough to date a photographer, but that’s it.
Instead, we ask our friends to take an Insta-worthy pic of us. We pose, we look away from the camera demurely, and we fake laugh in hopes of getting a cute candid pic that makes us look fun, chill, and casual.
First off, you’re not fooling anyone. Second off, people may not like your candid laughing shots as much as you think they do.
In fact, in a study done by dating app Happn, it was found that only 2% of women with candid laughing pics were popular on the app.
The women that got the most right swipes had a classic smile with their teeth showing — 58% of women with open mouthed smiles were considered successful (right swiped over half the time) on the app.
But in fact, the winning look for women on Happn was a smile with their head tilted to the side, which probably explains why you have a weird inclination to tilt your head to the side when you’re trying to be cute for a pic. 71% of women who tilted their head to the side were swiped right over half the time.
Obviously, most of us don’t take photos for the sole purpose of getting right swipes on our dating app of choice. But some of us do take photos for the sole purpose of getting Instagram likes, which is kind of the same thing.
Next time you’re having a mini Instagram photoshoot, stick to legit poses instead of pretending you’re laughing at nothing. It’ll probs result in more likes and your followers won’t hate you as much!
