Why Cock Blocking Is Actually BS
Similar to the friend zone, the cock block is something that guys love to name-drop as an excuse for why they’re not getting laid.
“I totally had Sara on my nuts last night,” he’ll say. “But then her busted friend Lily grabbed her and dragged her into an Uber on her way out of the bar instead. Why do the ugly chicks have to ruin it for all of us?”
Okay, Kyle, let’s backtrack here.
Girls help their friends get home from the bar all the time when their friends are too drunk to know how to get home, or who they’re going home with. Was Sara drunk? I’m sure she was. Lily may not be a Victoria’s Secret model, but she’s a good friend who’s actually helping her girl not wake up tomorrow morning wondering where she is and why her clothes are off.

But besides getting into consent — which I’m sure you already know all about, right? — let’s make this simpler.
If Sara really wanted to go home with a guy, she would’ve. She’s a big girl, after all, and big girls can make their own decisions, especially when it comes to who they want to sleep with. A girl shouldn’t need persuading from a dude, or an ultimatum, or guilt-tripping to make that decision. And if she knows what she wants, a little push from her BFF won’t deter her.
For example, if Kyle were Harry Styles instead and Lily was yanking on Sara’s cross-body bag trying to get her to leave, Sara would’ve said, “bye bitch, I’m going to get some superstar dick!” But guess what? She didn’t do that with Kyle. Maybe it was because she was too drunk, maybe it was because her friend made her realize she was about to make a mistake, or maybe she was only being nice to Kyle because he bought her a drink and she didn’t want him to get aggressive.

I’ll admit, there are a few situations where cock blocking is valid. Maybe if a girl’s parents come home when you’re about to get naked, maybe if she gets sad news that kills her mood, maybe if she voms mid-makeout — although if she’s that drunk you shouldn’t have been hooking up with her in the first place.
But, for the majority of situations, cock blocking is just another sad excuse boys make when they feel the need to explain why they aren’t getting their D’s wet as much as they’d like to.

And half the time, the cock blocking they’re complaining about was actually planned by the girl that they thought was into them.
You know, like when you text your friend asking her to call you frantically so you can get out of a bad date. Or when you give “the eyes” to your friend across the dance floor so she can save you from the creep rubbing up on you from behind.
Hate to break it to you, but if you’re a guy and you’re reading this, you should stop blaming the girl’s “ugly” friend and maybe start blaming yourself, sorry ’bout it.
