8 Celebrities Explain Why They Quit Smoking Weed

1. Kid Cudi
Cudi announced he was quitting because he was “happy being a new me.” On his Tumblr, he wrote: “Giva f— who thinks of me different, you didnt care about me in the first place if you can be proud and happy for me for growing and starting a new chapter. Im not your puppet or your tap dancing drug addict here to be your miserable muse, i always made music for me to help myself find understanding. I have finally learned from the words in my songs. I love who loves me and who really cares about me.”

“I stopped smoking weed for my kids,” he told Men’s Journal. And it was all because his daughter once confused the weed smell on his clothes for a skunk. “Sometimes Daddy smells like that,” he remembered her saying.
4. J. Cole
Because Cole raps about putting the pot down in several songs, HipHop-N-More decided to ask him about it. He revealed that he was never really a “big smoker.” He added, “I just had a phase toward the end of college, but it was never for me.”
5. Andre 3000
In a 2003 interview with The Guardian, Andre revealed that he had quit smoking pot and drinking in 1998 after realizing that the drug had taken control of his life. “I was kind of abusing it. I wasn’t looking my best. I had a platinum album out and I would do stuff like go to [the] projects to buy weed,” he said. In the same interview, he also admitted to being vegan.
6. Lady Gaga
As Gaga’s hip injury grew worse on her Born This Way Ball tour, the singer revealed that she was smoking up to 15 joints per day to help numb the pain. “I was just numbing, numbing, numbing myself then sleeping it off, then getting on stage, killing it in pain, then getting off and smoking, smoking, smoking, not knowing what the pain was,” she admitted. After her hip surgery, Gaga attended a retreat to get sober, which included being sent into the woods blindfolded “to find [her] way home.”
7. Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt told Hollywood Reporter that he eventually grew tired of his weed habit towards the end of the ’90s. Pitt said, “I was hiding out from the celebrity thing, I was smoking way too much dope, I was sitting on the couch and just turning into a doughnut and I really got irritated with myself.”
8. Miley Cyrus
