There’s Been an Explosion at an Ariana Grande Concert

A big explosion just rocked an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, at about 10:45 p.m. British time.

Cops say there have already been multiple fatalities and injuries, but it’s too soon to tell exactly how many.

Bystanders said they heard a loud bang, then chaos as people ran away and screamed that there was either a bomb or an active shooter, according to the Guardian. There wasn’t smoke from the explosion, a witness told the New York Times,

From the Guardian:

Majid Khan, 22, said: “I and my sister, along with a lot of others were seeing Ariana Grande perform at Manchester Arena, and we were all exiting the venue when around 10.40-10.45pm-ish a huge bomb-like bang went off that hugely panicked everyone and we were all trying to flee the arena.

“It was one bang and essentially everyone from the other side of the arena where the bang was heard from suddenly came running towards us as they were trying to exit Trinity Way and that was blocked so everyone was just running to any exit they could find as quickly as they could.

“Everyone was in a huge state of panic, calling each other as some had gone to the toilet whilst this had gone off, so it was just extremely disturbing for everyone there.”

Ariana Grande’s publicist told the New York Times she’s okay and they’re currently trying to figure out what happened. Perez Hilton reports 23 people have died and many were children, but the police haven’t confirmed that yet.

Here’s a video of the aftermath:

Here’s a statement from the Manchester Police:

People are speculating on social media that this was an act of terrorism, but it’s too soon to tell and police haven’t commented either way.

Ariana’s fans are grieving on Twitter.
