Denise Bidot Slayed With Her Stretch Marks In The Pages of SI

While Sports Illustrated didn’t place a plus-sized model on their cover this year and instead went for SI veteran Kate Upton, that doesn’t mean they’re going back on their pledge towards body positivity.

In fact, the issue, which hit the stands today, has an ad from plus-size clothing company Lane Bryant. The ad features mega babe Denise Bidot in a nautical swimsuit looking like a dime – without photoshop editing out her stretch marks.

Obviously, because this is an ad, it’s not like we should give a ton of credit to the SI team. Lane Bryant deserves the credit. But still, a couple of years ago you never would’ve seen something like this in the pages of Sports Illustrated. And with even brands notoriously known for photoshopping like Victoria’s Secret taking baby steps towards more realistic ads, change is happening slowly.

When Denise isn’t killing it for Lane Bryant, she’s working on her lifestyle movement, There is No Wrong Way to be a Woman, which embraces women who march to their own drum and DGAF about the haters.

Unfortunately, this stunna Lane Bryant ad in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swim Edition doesn’t mean we’re anywhere near a culture that doesn’t prize women with unrealistic body standards. But hey, if Denise Bidot can slay in the pages of a magazine with her stretch marks, you can slay the beach with yours.
