Selena Gomez just joined Kylie Jenner as part of the Puma fam
Puma is smartly doubling down on the Instagram market, because they just hired Selena Gomez — the platform’s most followed person — as their newest celebrity face.
Selena announced the news by posting the above photo on her Insta with the caption “Officially a part of the fam #puma @pumapartner.” Puma also posted an announcement:
Selena joins a growing list of celeb Puma faces who aren’t ~*technically*~ athletes, but still look really cool in athleisure.
Not only is Kylie Jenner part of the Puma fam (and Selena bears a slight resemblance to her in the top photo), but Rihanna and Sele’s boyfriend The Weeknd are all affiliated with the sports brand.
It’s interesting that Selena and the Weeknd would mix business with pleasure so blatantly. Won’t it be awkward at Puma events if they split? But she’s already made a habit of borrowing his clothes, so it kinda makes sense.
This also isn’t Selena’s first big brand endorsement. She also has partnerships with Coca-Cola and Coach. Might as well strike while the iron’s hot and get that sponsorship shmoney, bb!
There’s no word yet on whether Selena’s new post as Puma spokesperson will inspire the same backlash as Kylie’s did. But since Selena’s last name isn’t Kardashian or Jenner, chances are people will go easy on her.
