Selena Gomez secretly got a kidney from her bestie this summer
Do you have a bestie that you consider your ride or die? I know I do.
But, Selena Gomez’s close friend, The Secret Life of an American Teenager actress Francia Raisa raised the bar in friendship goals. In a recent People magazine article, Selena Gomez reveals that Francia Raisa donated her kidney for Gomez’s kidney transplant surgery over the summer!
In case you didn’t know, Selena Gomez has lupus, a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect pretty much every organ in your body. She talked all about it to Billboard in 2015.

And over the summer, Selena’s fans started to notice that she was on the DL with music and promo.
“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music,” she wrote on Instagram. “I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health.”
Selena shared a photo of both of them in their hospital beds, holding hands, recovering after surgery.

“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Selena said on Insta. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
