What inspired you to pursue a career in music, and how did you get started?
i started singing in church and my parents played gospel music all the time so i would hear amazing voices everyday. when i was in elementary school my teacher pulled me out of class to go the office and all my teachers were there waiting for me and she asked me to sing for them. when i was singing, all the teacher started tearing up and it was in that moment i realized God gave me a gift to make me people feel something.
How would you describe your musical style and what sets it apart from other artists?
my music is a world. there’s some of everything, i love to take people on a journey. i talk about relationships, the human experience, heartbreak, and the world. i think what sets me apart maybe is i dont approach R&B conventionally and i like to bring energy to the genre! i like making music people can dance to and im on a mission to get people on their feet.

Can you share a memorable moment from your journey as a musician that has shaped your artistry?
i’ll never forget when i heard “something’s missing (a capella)” by brandy for the first time. that song shaped my view on music and what was possible. i didn’t even know it was possible to make a song that was as vocally profound as that is. it opened a whole world for my ears that still affects me to this day.
Tell us about your style and fashion sense. How do you use fashion to express yourself and complement your music? And where does your inspiration come from?
i really just dress how i feel. i use clothes to tell a story and have a conversation, that’s how i decide what i put on and for what. my music has this edgy, rebellious nature and i think my approach to fashion is the same. i’m really inspired by interesting silhouettes and cool shapes and i more so use accessories as the base for my fits these days. i love new york style and there’s some african artists i’m inspired be as well!
What’s one thing about the music industry that you wish you knew when you were just starting out?
i wish i knew that some of the artists i looked up to most wouldn’t be like how i imagined them.
What’s a fun fact/secret about yourself that most people don’t know?
if i order a burger and fries i always have to eat all of my fries first before i can touch my burger. i don’t know why but it’s just what i believe in
How do you stay creative and inspired?
traveling does it for me. living life and experiencing completely different scenery and languages and people! also when i go through things it makes for a great story to tell.
What’s the story behind your latest single?
birthday dance is here to make it feel like your birthday everyday. i wanted to make a a song that wasn’t deep, that wasn’t complicated, that simply made you feel good! this song gives you a reason to celebrate yourself and do your lil dance everyday and at anytime in your life. it’s been beautiful watching people manifest that very goal! i just wanted to bring energy to R&B!
What’s the most challenging aspect of being a musician in today’s digital age, and how do you navigate it?
sometimes i fantasize about the days where music was about…music. a lot of times i feel like i was born in the wrong era. i sometimes struggle with the fact that in today’s era, it can never just be about being a great performer and nothing is ever good enough. but i just take it one day at a time and don’t place my identity in the internet or validation. God is my secret weapon!
How do you handle the haters?
I appreciate them for caring about me haha. i learned to understand how people are, how the internet is, and how the world treats other people. i still don’t enjoy hate but now i just read it and realize it means people care about me enough to have an opinion.
What’s your favorite part of performing live, and do you have any pre-show rituals?
i think seeing the beautiful faces of my fans and them singing my lyrics back to me is something you can’t buy. i also love just hearing the 808s of my songs at shows, when i hear them in the venue i instantly feel like a superhero.
What are your must-haves on the road?
i can’t even describe how much water i drink on the road, i have to pee every 30 minutes! i stay super hydrated just to keep my immune system and my voice up to speed with the draining schedule. i gotta have my headphones, i gotta have a hoodie, and i gotta have someone wit me that makes me feel comfortable <3
What can fans expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited about?
definitely working on some exciting collaborations and i’m finishing my debut album!!! it sounds crazyyyyy! i’ve never been more proud of anything i’ve done and i can’t wait to take the world on a wild ride. i think people will be surprised by some of the things i talk about!
What’s your skincare routine?
i live by cetaphil! the foam wash and the moisturizer is my go to for years!!! and i have a pretty solid lymphatic drainage routine with super cold face rollers haha. i love cold products on my face!
Any favorite products you can’t live without?
i don’t feel like myself without a water bottle close to me and i always need a durag!
What’s your ultimate guilty pleasure? We won’t judge – promise!
i like cold food, sometimes it hits harder when it’s cold!

yes he does. it’s always something real simple and minimal. i change it up each time to keep it original based on who it is!
