Halsey Instagrammed Her Surgery Cuz She’s a F*cking Champion
Halsey is a badass. There’s no questioning that. But many are unaware that the singer’s level of bravery far surpasses her music videos and style choices.

On Friday evening, the singer revealed she has endometriosis, a disorder in which the tissue that typically lines the inside of the uterus starts growing on the outside. She confided with her followers that she had just undergone surgery and hopes that it will help help her treat the incredibly painful symptoms caused by the disease.

“Today I braved multiple terrifying surgeries,” she wrote. “The most important of which being the surgery that would hopefully treat my endometriosis. For those of you who have followed this battle of mine or who may suffer with it yourself, you know the extremes to which it can be mentally exhausting and physically painful.”

This isn’t the first time that Halsey has been vocal about the long and painful battle she’s fought against her disease. In January of last year, she tweeted a lengthy paragraph about the extensive amount of suffering that endometriosis has caused her, such as being misdiagnosed, being doubted by doctors and the overall turmoil that living with a chronic illness can cause. She even shared personal moments like when she found herself, “doubled over backstage in the middle of sets” and “being in so much pain” that she would vomit or faint.

While Halsey is not shy about sharing the ugly parts of her illness, she ultimately wants others who suffer like her to know that they are not alone and can still “live a crazy, wild, rewarding life” in spite of living with a chronic disease.
