The Amber Heard-Johnny Depp divorce saga just got even messier.
While the rest of the world was sleeping this morning, it was discovered that in 2009, Amber Heard was arrested and charged with domestic violence after allegedly striking her then-partner in the arm at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
At the time, Amber Rose was dating artist/photographer Tasya van Ree, her partner from roughly 2008 to 2012, even though Heard didn’t publicly come out as bisexual until 2010.
The alleged assault occurred after the couple got into a heated argument and TMZ reports that Amber was later arrested and booked for misdemeanor domestic violence, although the court ended up dismissing the case because neither woman lived in the state of Washington.
The judge did give Van Ree the option of refiling within the two-year statue of limitations, but clearly that didn’t end up happening.
Of course, the fact that Amber Heard was once arrested for domestic violence shouldn’t mean that her own allegations of violence about Johnny Depp should be discredited or taken any less seriously.
It’s just an interesting and unfortunate turn of events for a woman who’s already having a hard enough time making people take her allegations seriously.

“Female empowerment looks like putting the next girl on. A lot of people try to make it seem like if you putting someone on, it’s taking away from you, but I feel as though if you really a girl’s girl, you don’t have no problem putting the next girl on. For me, any female I see with a small following but is so talented, that bothers me. I’m the first person to follow you girl and blow up your comments and let you know that you’re that fucking girl. The amount of followers you have doesn’t match the talent you have, and now I’m going crazy and now I’m your fan.”
