Where did Paris Hilton meet her fiancé? At the Chateau Marmont, of course
Paris Hilton just announced her engagement to Chris Zylka, an actor she’s reportedly been dating for a little over a year.
They’ve actually known each other for seven years, though, and Paris told us at her Galore cover shoot last summer that it was basically love at first sight.
“Chris and I met seven years ago, during an Oscar party being held at the Chateau Marmont,” Paris told us. “As soon as he walked through the door, we looked at one another; we’re both shy so it took a while, but by the end of the night we couldn’t stop laughing and flirting.”
The couple’s first date was at Paris’s house, she said. They stayed up all night talking and getting to know each other.
“When we had our first kiss, I felt that electric feeling and knew there was something special about him,” she told Galore.

If you follow Paris on social media, you might have noticed that she’s constantly jetting all over the world to DJ, promote her fragrances, and receive snowy mountaintop wedding proposals. But she says her favorite thing to do is hang out with Chris at home. When we asked her how she stays so social while having a boyfriend, she said it’s pretty simple.
“He is my best friend and we always have the most amazing time together,” Paris told us. “For work, I have to be out and be social all the time. So in my private time, I would much rather be at home in bed watching TV with my boyfriend and puppies than out at a club.”
And even though they met at a super-glam party, Paris’s ideal date with her boyfriend would be anything but.

“We have fun no matter what we do,” she told Galore, “but my ideal day would be having a day off from work, sleeping in. Then cooking a big breakfast and hanging out at the house with our pets. Then going to Disneyland to go on all the rides. We are both kids at heart so we love doing things like that.”
Anyone who’s been following Paris for a while will notice that she never lets her relationships outshine her professional accomplishments. Unlike many celebrities who use their dating life to further their brand, Paris has always had a super independent image, so it’s rare to see her go public with a boyfriend.
“For the first time, it feels so right,” she said of her decision to incorporate Chris into her public life. “He’s perfect for me. He’s my best friend, so loyal, kind, caring and sweet. He has such a big heart, I trust him with my life and know he would never hurt me. I’m so proud to let the world know he’s mine and I’m his.”
Plus, Chris is super supportive of Paris’s high profile and not jealous like some guys would be.
“Most guys would be intimidated by something like that, but Chris is not like that at all,” Paris told us. “He is so proud and supportive of me and lets me know every single day. He is always there for me and I feel so blessed to have a man like this in my life.”
She added that her parents helped her learn what a good relationship is, and Chris is similar to her dad because “they are both such genuine pure souls.”
“My mom and dad have been together since they were teenagers,” Paris said. “Their relationship has always been such a huge inspiration to me.”
