Hair care is complicated.

From how often you’re supposed to shampoo your hair to figuring out how you can still use hella products without going bald, the answer always seems to need a lengthy explanation.

And black hair — not to even mention celebrity hair — is even more complicated, so Zendaya took two and half minutes out of her busy schedule to explain the ins and outs of extensions, weaves and wigs on her app for all us clueless folk.

“These are clips,” Zendaya began, holding up a section of hair with clips on the end. “They’re a form of extension that you clip into your hair.”

Self-explanatory enough.

Then Zendaya went on to explain how that section of hair is actually called a track.

“Tracks can be made into clips,” Zendaya explained, “they can be taped into hair or they can be sewn into hair.”

Next, Zendaya explained weaves for any poor unfortunate soul who’s never watched a makeover episode of America’s Next Top Model.

“A weave is when you braid your hair up, have a net over it, and you weave the hair, the tracks…into the net that is sewn onto your head,” she said. “You can have it for up to a month, depending on how our hair grows and how you take care of it.”

And she made it super clear that anything longer than a month is a sign you’re a nasty woman, and not in the positive sense of the phrase.

Last but not least, Z got wiggy with it.

Obviously, we all know what a wig is, but if you’re not tuning in to RuPaul’s Drag Race every 4 5 seconds, maybe you don’t already know about lace-front wigs.

“Those are the best when it comes to full coverage and looking natural,” Zendaya said. “They can be applied with tape and/or glue.”

Hope you learned something.
