These Fast Food Items Are Lower in Cals Than “Healthy” Choices
Chances are, you remember when news spread that a McDonald’s salad had more calories than a burger. Honestly, it was a blessing, because who wants to get a salad at McDonalds anyways?
While McDonalds has changed up their menu and most of their salads now fall in a lower caloric range, not all other fast food restaurants are in the same boat. In fact, tons of fast food chains have “healthy” options that are actually more caloric and fat- and sugar-heavy than their seemingly junky menu items.

This is important to know. Not only because you don’t want to go HAM on a Wendy’s salad to realize it’s not so healthy after all, but more because you can now just order what you want without feeling like you should’ve ordered something lighter. After all, if you’re stuck with fast food options, you have to just YOLO.
1. Arby’s Melt Sandwich
Arby’s is known for their roast beef and melt sandwiches, but they’ve recently started marketing to a healthier crowd with their Market Fresh menu which involves sandwiches and wraps. The thing is, all of the Market Fresh menu items hit around 800 calories, whereas a classic roast beef sandwich or melt will only cost you 500.
2. Burger King Whopper
The good old BK Whopper is only about 240 calories if you skip the mayo, according to nutritionists interviewed by Eat This, Not That. Plus, you can get a side salad or apple slices instead of french fries. Their Garden Grill Chicken Salad is up to 450 calories, and don’t get us started on the smoothies, which are loaded with 85 grams of sugar.

3. Carl’s Jr. Chicken Nuggets
Carl’s Jr. chicken stars (their name for nuggets) are only 40 calories a piece, totaling at 390 calories for the nine piece meal. 4. Chick-fil-A Fried Chicken Sandwich
The classic Chick-fil-A sandwich contains 440 calories and 19 grams of fat, plus you can skip the fries for a side like a salad or soup. Their Chicken Salad Sandwich on whole grain bread actually has 500 calories and 21 grams of fat.
5. Taco Bell Crunchy Tacos
The classic Crunchy Tacos at Taco Bell are only 170 calories each. The Fiesta Taco Salad has a casual 860 calories. Take your pick.
