Rihanna is About to F*ck Up the VMA’s With a Career-Spanning Performance
As if Rihanna hadn’t slayed us enough this year, it was just announced that she will take the stage that this year’s MTV Video Music Awards and receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Which means she’s gonna PERFORM!
Last year, the honor went to Kanye West, and year before it went to Beyoncé. So for Rihanna to be added to this list of super stars is really quite the honor.

The award, also known as the Lifetime Achievement Award, is presented to an artist or director who has made an impact on culture through their work and music. Also the presentation of the award is usually followed by an extensive performance from the artist.
That wasn’t the case last year when Kanye took the time to make a speech and then announced he was running for president in 2020.
Other winners of this iconic award include David Bowie, Madonna, and Britney Spears. In 1991, the award was renamed after Michael Jackson for basically breaking every record for pop music.
This year’s VMA’s will be hosted for the first time ever in NYC at Madison Square Garden and air on MTV at 9pm ET/PT. We’re pumped af to see what Rihanna does with her performance.
