[Premiere] MAAD’s New Video Is All About 90s Love
New York singer-songwriter MAAD is bringing those classic 90s R&B feels, making us miss the likes of Brandy, Monica, Mary J. Blige and Aaliyah. Having previously collaborated with A$AP Ferg, it’s a countdown to her forthcoming debut EP “Le Funk,” said to be out early next year.
Her current single, “90s Love,” has a drum track and melody that’ll remind you of the game-changing tunes on Janet Jackson’s “Control” and “Rhythm Nation” albums of the late 80s and early 90s.
“I feel the 90s is such an iconic era,” MAAD told Galore. “The love in the 90s and the way it was represented always seemed so real — it was that kind of genuine love and the old school romance from that decade I was looking to convey in the song.”
Today, she hits us with a cool visual for the single, which was directed by Paulo Berberan (Wonderland, Chanel) in London.
“My aim for this video was to capture different couples and their genuine love for each other,” MAAD told us. “It was so important to have couples from diverse backgrounds involved, telling their stories.” She adds, “love has no boundaries, whether that be race, gender, class or whatever it is… real love can help to break down boundaries.”
