The Non-Corny Guide to Glowing & Growing

Coming from someone who hoards emotions like Taylor Swift hoards enemies, it’s time to let go of all of the constant negativity that holds you back from reaching your full potential. But scrolling through the #blessed tag on Insta isn’t gonna get you what you need. Here’s a no-nonsense guide to self care.

1. You can’t do epic sh*t with basic people.

Drake lied to you, he’s actually making new friends and so should you. Meeting new people is always exciting. Branch out and try something new. Hanging out with ambitious people will help you kickstart your life and better help you stay focus. Who knows, networking could possibly help you improve your career. Sometimes it’s all about who you know.
Stop your mainstream obsession with pizza and bacon and hit the gym.

2. “Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy.” – Elle Woods

Creating a fitness routine could add structure to your life while giving you a more positive outlook. Had a bad day? Run it off. Wanna punch your boss? Take kickboxing and channel your rage into a punching bag. Rather die than sweat? I feel you! In the end you’ll be spring break ready (cue James Franco gif in Spring Breakers) and every pound you drop helps Michelle Obama sleep at night.

3. Be unapologetic like Rihanna.

Rihanna is known for never being afraid to be herself. She strolls around the world in the best streetwear our eyes have ever seen with an aesthetically pleasing wine glass to match. Be a savage like Rihanna. Speak your mind, stand up for yourself, do what you want to do. Don’t be afraid to stand out and be true to yourself. The world is filled with people who refuse to express themselves which creates a generation of sheep. This is your life to live. Don’t be afraid to sparingly make bad decisions. Believe in your selfie and post that thirst trap. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, who cares what other people think.

4. Talk about your joys.

It’s normal you use social media or your friends to vent about the hardships or just events that you live through on a daily basis. Try not to consistently post negative status updates, when you always have something negative to say people remember it. Think about the type of vibe you bring into a room, you want your aura to light up a room like a lamp. More people will want to have you around and maybe that might lighten up some of your dark days.

5. Put on some Beyonce and get your sh*t done.

This is your life to live. Instead of just following your dreams, be your dream. You have just as many hours as Beyoncé does in a day. Do something everyday that puts you one step closer to your goal. When you see yourself as successful that is when you officially made it.

6. Put down your phone.

Everyone keeps their phone within arm’s reach at all times. It’s our security blanket, we hide behind our screens in awkward situations and create vivacious lives on our social media accounts. Take off from being your personal content creator and live life in the moment. We constantly spend all day on our phones keeping up with what’s currently trending that we don’t realize we are wasting our youth online. Go on an adventure with your squad, do something that you can’t share on social media, have fun without your phone.
