Melania Trump Plagiarized Michelle Obama So Everyone’s Making Fun Of Her
Last night, Melania Trump made the same mistake that many of us make as a freshman in high school or college: she was caught plagiarizing.
While addressing the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Melania basically lifted an entire section from Michelle Obama’s 2008 address to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, because what are the odds that a bunch of stupid Americans would notice, right?
Just like you didn’t get away with it back in the day, it only took people a hot second to see through Melania’s speech.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison of Michele’s 2008 address, and what Melania tried to pass off as an original last night:
Pretty similar, right?
And although it’s tempting to write this off as an example of how a confident, enterprising speechwriter can make a quick buck by selling a rich, unaware politician’s wife a speech that he stole from somebody else, Melania is actually claiming that she wrote the speech all by herself.
And so is the official Trump campaign.
At 1:15, Melania is asked about her speech and says, “I wrote it”https://t.co/os6zrffsQ0

Curiously, Donald Trump responded by seemingly plagiarizing a tweet Obama sent out in 2008, praising Michelle after the same speech Melania stole from.

And Melania didn’t just steal from Michelle Obama, she also stole from Rick Astley — you know, the guy who made rickrolling a thing.
But to reiterate (and to paraphrase @tvoti), the real speechwriter’s scandal here is this ACTUAL RICKROLL?!?!?!?!?! pic.twitter.com/eSuFbbVs43

Twitter responded to this insanity by coming up with its own hashtag, and making fun of Melania Trump.

I mean, when you think about it, what’s more American than a white person stealing a black person’s work?#FamousMelaniaTrumpQuotes

There was one dude out there though who seemed to be sticking up for Mrs. Trump.
Leftists are perfectly comfortable with rampant misogyny when they’re insulting women with whom they disagree. #FamousMelaniaTrumpQuotes

But you know what? Pointing out someone’s plagiarism isn’t exactly “rampant misogyny,” but nice try on trying to stand out from the pack, buddy.
Oh, Melania.
You really are the perfect wife for Donald Trump after all.
