Billboard interviewed Kesha’s mom, Pebe Sebert, about all of the controversy surrounding Kesha’s lawsuit against Sony, and she revealed that when they first got word of Taylor Swift’s now famous donation, they thought it was “a scam.”
Pebe got word of the donation through an email from Taylor Swift’s publicist.
“It was really random,” Pebe told Billboard. “Kesha was like, ‘Are you sure it’s not some scammer?’ And then she said, ‘I would be honored if she wants to do that.’ ”
Kesha and Taylor later talked directly about the donation. Pebe also details other aspects of the trial and its fallout in the interview, which you can read here.
By the way, the Billboard story confirms it: Taylor’s donation came through on Feb. 22, which was one day afterDemi Lovato shaded her on Twitter for not speaking out against Dr. Luke. We can’t say for sure if Demi’s shade directly spurred the donation, but at least that makes one less Twitter beef mystery in the world.
