Kendall’s Met Gala Dress Was So Naked Cuz It Was Designed By a Lingerie Brand
Young celebrities never need an excuse to wear a naked dress on the red carpet, but Kendall Jenner has one anyway.
Her Met Gala dress was designed by luxe lingerie brand La Perla.

Even though the dress doesn’t look remotely like it even tried to follow the Rei Kawakubo theme, the creative director of La Perla insists that’s not the case.

“I was inspired by Rei Kawakubo’s concept of ‘un-fabric‘ and her ability to create movement out of seemingly immobile materials,” Julia explained. “So, I created my own ‘un-fabric‘ by affixing stones to a single thread, creating a beautiful and liquid suspension that mirrored the qualities of a fine silk.”
Whether or not you’re buying that explanation, the sheer amount of work that went into creating this naked dress is kind of astounding.
According to a press release dutifully sent out multiple times over the course of the night by La Perla, Kendall’s dress was made-up of 85,000 hand painted and placed crystals that took 26 people 160 hours to make.
Guess it’s true what they say: it takes a village to make a celeb look so good naked.
