Being Hot At a Bar Makes People Think You’re A Slut, Study Says
Have you ever gotten hit on at the gym when you’re clearly busy running your fifth mile? How about those times you’ve gotten catcalled while you’re legit wearing sweatpants and an XL T-shirt? It seems that guys will use any cues to convince themselves that girls are looking for a man.
It’s now been found that drinking at a bar affects whether a guy thinks you’re DTF or not. We’re not kidding. Women who sit beside a beer or alcoholic beverage at the bar rather than a water are perceived as more promiscuous and as having greater sexual intent, especially to men, according to a study highlighted by Glow.
Conducted in Melbourne, Australia, the study showed 147 sexually experienced males and females a short video showing a man and a woman talking. Some participants viewed a video that showed a woman with water, while the rest viewed a video where the woman had alcohol in front of her.
Most men saw the girl who had alcohol as having “greater sexual intent” than the girl with the water. They didn’t view her personality traits as contributing to her sexual intent, but they did view her attractiveness as contributing to the increase of her level of sexual intent. Yes, the hotter you are, the more men think you want to have sex with someone. LOLLLLLL.
Cool, so if you drink alcohol, and especially if you are hot, guys assume that you’re DTF? Talk about wishful thinking — or actually, plain old rape culture.
This shows how bogus it is when judges in rape cases try to cite a woman’s intoxication as a negating factor to the fact that a dude took advantage of her. Seriously, whether you’ve had eight shots or are simply holding your friend’s drink, men (and people in general) are likely going to still think you’re “asking for it.” Awesome!
