Ivanka Secretly Met With Planned Parenthood
Ivanka Trump has said most of the work she does for her father’s administration happens behind closed doors, and now we have proof that work includes having secret meetings with Planned Parenthood.
A few weeks after her father’s inauguration, Politico reports that Ivanka, who at that time was still an unofficial advisor to the White House, asked for a one-on-one meeting with Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood.

“The purpose of the meeting, from Cecile’s point of view, was to make sure Ivanka fully understood what Planned Parenthood does [and] how it is funded,” said Dawn Leguens, the VP of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
At the time, her father was openly trying to repeal and replace Obamacare with legislation that would defund Planned Parenthood, because it’s a symbol of the abortion movement and Republicans in the government all seem to hate abortion with all of their soul.
But, as you probably already know, none of the funding that Planned Parenthood receives actually goes to fund abortions.
Instead that money covers cancer screenings, STD tests and birth control, and a variety of other services Planned Parenthood offers for women.

“The main thing that Cecile Richards was doing was explaining that the money doesn’t actually go to abortions – we get reimbursed the same way a hospital does,” Dawn continued. “We were clearing up misinformation about how this works.”
But it’s unclear how effective this meeting between Ivanka and Planned Parenthood was.
Obviously, Trumpcare has yet to come to pass, but Dawn is not here for Ivanka’s silence on the issue.
“Anyone who works in this White House is responsible for addressing why women are in the cross hairs of basically every single policy we’ve seen in this administration,” Dawn said at the Women in the World conference in New York City.
While Ivanka’s defended her silence on hot-button issues by saying it would render her “less effective with the people ultimately making decisions,” this gets right to the core of what makes Ivanka Trump such a frustrating political figure.
She pays a lot of lip-service to being an advocate for woman’s rights, but when it comes down to actually supporting women’s rights in public, if it’s not about something safe like the wage gap, Ivanka’s not going to talk about it.
Basically, she’s the Taylor Swift of pop culture.
She talks big but her actions leave a lot to be desired.
