Galore Darlings: The Prettiots Reveal Their Lucky Numbers
The Prettiots are a trio of cute girls playing cute music your parents would probably hate. It’s irreverent yet adorable, cheeky but intelligent. They make bobble-head-punk, with a ukelele. They’re fronted by Kay, the big, bug eyed blonde who’s family is closely associated with crucial punk figures like Kurt Cobain. Kay writes songs about her experiences of growing up in NYC and boys she’s fallen for and just as quickly fallen out with, all over a vibrant, beautiful, landscape of sounds with a much deeper, darker tone that makes your skin crawl (in the best possible way!). The juxtapositions within the sounds and the band is just one of the factors with The Prettiots are shaping up to be one of our new favorite bands to come out of the big city, specially sounding like a more upbeat Lana del Rey and a less angry Courtney Love. They just finished recording their first album which is sure to be hot next summer. We caught up with the three Prettiots to dig deep into what makes them click:
