Celeb Stylist Fatima B. On The One Item Every Woman Needs In Her Closet
From Nicki Minaj to Wiz Khalifa to The Weeknd, celebrity stylist Fatima B. has had her styling clips on just about everyone important. After styling the Weeknd’s most recent cover spread for Rolling Stone, Fatima has become an expert at keeping both she and her celebrity clients looking fierce despite their hectic lifestyles.
In the q+a below, Fatima shares her best tips for curating a killer wardrobe, on-the-go beauty secrets, and the one item every woman needs in her closet.
Being a stylist, you’re on the go all the time! How do you take care of your skin?
I always use Fresh Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask before I go to sleep. In the morning, I apply a EVE LOM Cleanser and Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation, it keeps my skin hydrated.
What’s the best drugstore skin product?
It has to be Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, I love it! It makes my skin feel moisturized instantly. I literally feel like new born baby.
How do you keep your morning routine easy and simple for your busy schedule?
I normally stick to the same morning cleansing routine and just apply light makeup. I always put concealer on, a winged eye-liner, and I’m good to go!
What is your best hair tip, if you’re going from set to an event at night?
Well, it all depends on the outfit I’m wearing that night. I have a blunt long bob with bangs so it works for any occasion
What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?
It would have to be my Nars Cream Concealer because even when I don’t really want to wear make-up, I can still just slap a little concealer on and I just feel bright and awake.
What’s your typical styling/working outfit?
Most of the time I’m pretty chill. I rock a pair of my Celine sneakers, Vetements jeans, a rocker tee or anything Acne Studios.
If you don’t have time to do your make-up, what’s the one thing you always put on to feel put together?
Sunglasses! I have a huge sunglasses collection. When I travel or am prepping for a trip, I always have my shades ready to go.
What’s one item every women should have in their closet?
She should always have a statement piece. Whether it’s a shoe, a jacket, a nice pair sunglasses, or just something that always displays your signature look. My latest obsession is coats, jackets and anything leather.
Who do you see as your style icon?
So many! Everyone from Gwen Stefani, Pharrell, Debbie Harry, and Puff Daddy to Lenny Kravitz, Bianca Jagger and Kate Moss.
If you could dress any star, living or deceased, who would it be?
Tupac. I loved how he wore his jewelry. He was so gordy with his overalls with the “thug life” embroidery, his leather vest, and blue bandana. He wasn’t afraid. My favorite shoot is the one he shot with David Lachapelle where he’s covered in gold jewelry. Like imagine if Tupac was here now, he was so ahead of his time.
