Matières Fécales Is Making Fashion for “The Ninety Nine Percent”
Matières Fécales has never been interested in playing by fashion’s rules. For Spring/Summer 2027, Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran turned their attention away from the ultra-wealthy world explored in last season’s The One Percent and toward everyone else. Titled The Ninety Nine Percent, the collection took over Paris’s Place de la République with 99 models of color and a deeply personal exploration of freedom, identity, immigration, community and belonging.
From punk-inflected looks and sharp tailoring to intricate saris, feathers and dramatic couture silhouettes, the collection transformed Bhaskaran’s own experiences into something much bigger: a celebration of the people luxury fashion has historically left outside the room. This time, Matières Fécales made sure the 99 percent were impossible to ignore.
