Fashion blogger Caroline Daur is her own damn boss

Have you always wanted to be your own boss? Because I know I have. For a lot of people I know, the goal is to eventually become your own boss and to fully make your own career decisions. Caroline Daur, a German fashion blogger, is doing just that.

Caroline is a self-made entrepreneur who runs a blog, manages herself, is her own boss, and still is able to find some down time. She has had a collab with Mac, and has walked the runway for Dolce & Gabbana. She has over a million followers on Instagram, but she’s not done yet.

Caroline is hoping to continue working hard at her blog and partnerships, and in the future, wants to pursue an acting career. Check out our interview with her below, and check out her blog here.

How did you get started with your blog?

I began with Instagram for fun. After a while, I invested my time more and more in fitness and fashion and then started as a natural consequence my blog.

Did you always intend to focus on fashion, or did you want to write about something else?

My first love was always fashion, but I also wrote about fitness in the beginning.

What were some of the big career steps that you took in order to get where you are today?

My highlights are definitely my own design cooperations, for example, making my own Mac lipstick and walking the Dolce & Gabbana fashion shows. I think those were my biggest steps in my career.

You have 1.2 million followers on Instagram. What do you think that your page offers that other blogs don’t?

I think every page has its own charm. My Instagram is really personal and I think therefore I’m really approachable and people can identify themselves with me. I really love to share my life with my followers.

You’re originally from Germany. Does that influence your work at all?

I have the traditional German virtues of reliability and punctuality. These points really influence my work.

How did you eventually start including food, travel, fitness and more on your blog?

At the beginning I often included food and fitness in my blog, but now my focus lies on fashion and beauty.

That’s a lot of shit to cover. Are you constantly working? How do you find the time to just chill?

I’m constantly working, but I really love my job! It is hard to find time to chill. But I have to admit that I’m also really bad at relaxing.

You’re 100% self-made. You told me that you do all of your work by yourself, including partnerships with brands and your own management. Why is it that you didn’t hire outside help?

My Instagram, my partnerships, and my blog are all 100% me! I love to make my own decisions and plan my life exactly like I imagine it. I think that is a privilege. So far I’m proud that I can say I do my own management.

What advice do you have for young women trying to build their own blogs?

Be yourself! I know that sounds a little cliched, but it´s true. I think in this business it is really important to be authentic and professional.

Do you have a specific theme for your Instagram? If so, what is it?

I have no specific theme. I always try to catch the perfect moment and feeling I experiment in this second.

You very clearly have the travel bug. What has been your favorite location so far?

I love Los Angeles! That’s definitely my favorite location.
