Getting Ready for the Big Night

It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve done this before – I am buzzing. I’ve spent so much time curating this look with my incredible stylist, Benjamin Holtrop, so the fact I get to bring it to life tonight feels positively surreal. We put so much time into filming this second season of “FUBAR” last summer in Toronto, and it’s hard to believe that in just a few hours, we’ll be sharing it with the world. I’m so excited to celebrate that with my friends, my cast mates, my crew, and, of course, all of the fans that made it happen.

Hair and Makeup Transformation

I remember chatting with Amy Chin, my hair and makeup artist, about the direction I wanted to head tonight with this look – I wanted to capture the classic glamor of the 60s and 70s, but I wanted to bring a clean, modern touch.

Of course, part of the process is letting your artist do her work; the end result is and always will be a surprise. Here, in the makeup chair, I’m just so eager to see what Amy’s cooking up; I know it’ll be amazing and so worth the wait.

The Final Look

My goal was to pay homage to the golden age of spy cinema, a nod to vintage James Bond (is this not giving Goldfinger?) and the gorgeous women of the era. And if you ask my friends, they’ll tell you that any look I go for, whether it’s for a premiere like this one or in my day-to-day life, always has a touch of Old Hollywood glamor. My dress, from Retrofete, set the tone for this look – as soon as I saw it, I was in love.

Seeing how this look came together, I’m elated… it’s better than anything I had in my head. Of course, it couldn’t have happened without my team; they got the vision, and they executed it to perfection. If I was excited before, I’m beyond ecstatic now – I know tonight is gonna be the moment I wanted it to be.

Pre-Event Moments

The final moments in my hotel room, before any premiere, are always so special to me. As someone who practices mindfulness every day, this is my time to really ground myself and set my intentions for the night.

My biggest goal? To celebrate this new season with everyone who made it possible, from the cast, to my team, to the fans. I’m most looking forward to getting to reconnect with the people I spent my summer adventuring with, sharing some of our favorite moments from filming.

Arriving at the Event

This never gets old. The nerves, the excitement, the awe and wonder – this makes me feel like a kid again, going on an adventure for the first time.

And doesn’t everyone look gorgeous? I feel lucky to be a part of this – not just being on the carpet, but to be part of this “FUBAR” family. They made my home away from home.

And now they’ve made this carpet home. I won’t lie, though – I do love the glamor of a red carpet. It certainly is as fabulous as it gets.

Event Moments

My favorite part is always the people – the glitz and glamor is, of course, unforgettable. But seeing our loved ones react to the first episode for the first time is such a treat. Every laugh, every gasp of shock, every cheer and scream and cackle makes me warm with joy. But it’s our after party where I really get to let loose and reconnect with friends from the show, new and old.

I loved catching up with Gabriel Luna, who played our supervillain Boro in season 1 (and is now crushing it on The Last of Us) – we missed him tremendously this season, and he was so great about staying part of the family with set visits up in Toronto and messages to our group chats.

Getting to see him at the premiere was a definite highlight. The after party is where you get to let the poised façade melt away and just goof off – and the best part is, everyone’s doing it. We all got silly, we all had laughs, and we all looked fantastic doing it; what more can you ask for?

Closing Thoughts

I feel so full of joy and gratitude. Every premiere you do is a milestone – it’s a reminder that you aren’t just reaching for the stars; you’re basking in the starlight. To be so surrounded by love, to be sharing in the thrill of releasing your work to the world… it really is something special. Like I said before, I’m big on mindfulness. I love to take that moment after everything is done and soak in the feeling. And the feeling right now is total happiness – like being wrapped up in a big, cozy blanket, imagining the sheer possibility of everything to come. Whatever this journey has in store for me, I cannot wait.
