This Skate Brand Just Called Rihanna and Bieber Posers
Thrasher shirts are everywhere.
They’re walking by you on the streets of Soho, staring up at your from your Instagram feeds, and hugging the frames of famous somebodys like North West, Justin Bieber and Rihanna.
While some people would argue this increased visibility is a great thing for the brand, Jake Phelps, the editor of Thrasher Magazine, is not one of those people.
He thinks it sucks.
In an interview with Dazed & Confused four years ago, Phelps railed against what he called fashion’s appropriation of skate culture, calling it “corny as shit.”
I’m sorry but, fashion’s appropriation of skate culture???????
Excuse me while I LOL.
Now in an interview with Hypebeast, Phelps elaborates on that feeling saying, “We don’t send boxes to Justin Bieber or Rihanna or those fucking clowns. The pavement is where the real shit is. Blood and scabs, does it get realer than that?”
Damn, son.
Looks like somebody needs a chill pill.
