7 Products That Will Actually Save Your Chapped Winter Lips

Putting on lip balm is a slippery slope. Like, fuck, you already have chapped and dry lips, but some products seem to make your lips even more chapped, and suddenly you find yourself needing to carry lip balm with you at all times because your lips are crying for help at a moment’s notice.

But, how can you know which products will actually work to combat the drying lip products that are part of your makeup routine (cough Kylie Lip Kit cough)? Well, we’ve got you covered.

1. BY TERRY Baume De Rose

This product has a bit of a cult following and is said to be a favorite of celebs, which you can guess means it’s really expensive. $60 for a lip balm does seem a bit ridiculous, but it really works, it smells amazing, and you can also use it on your cuticles. But don’t worry, there are other options that work as well and won’t cost you a week’s worth of groceries. Hint: Do not buy this if you have long-ass acrylic nails unless you want to moisturize the underside of your fake nails.

2. ChapStick Dual-Ended Hydration Lock

Unfortunately, this doesn’t smell quite as delicious as Katy Perry’s fave cherry ChapStick, but this product is specifically for fucked up lips like yours. One end of the stick moisturizes, and one end of the stick renews. TBH, I don’t really know the difference, but I do know that this shit works. You can also pick it up at your local drugstore, so it’s a win-win.

3. Anthony Advanced Formula Lip Balm SPF 25 (Mint & White Tea)

We’re not huge fans of the applicator on this, but we are huge fans of the amazing minty scent and rich balm. This product will have your lips feeling like new and have your nose craving some mint-chocolate chip ice cream.

4. Peter Thomas Roth Pink Bombshell Lip Balm

This is a slightly cheaper alternative to the By Terry balm. The color is similar and the packaging is similar as well (again, not for those of you with long nails).

5. SkinCeuticals Antioxidant Lip Repair

At first use, this product will surprise you because it feels more like a lotion than a lip balm. But after a few uses, you’ll wonder if you should’ve been using something like this on your lips all along, because this shit works.

6. Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub

Jeffree Star’s beauty products have a cult-following for a good reason. These (currently sold out) lip scrubs are all-natural (as in, you’ll actually recognize the ingredients on the label), tasty, and are perfect for applying prior to putting on a drying liquid lipstick. Plus, who can hate on something that’s mojito flavored?

7. Mizzi’s Simply Citrus Balm

This is a Kylie-approved product, and we like to think she knows some shit about repairing damaged lips. It antioxidants, vitamin C, and a super glossy finish that highlights your lips without looking overdone. It also smells delicious — it’s perfect as an overnight ritual or a daytime gloss. Technically this product is for using after Mizzi’s lib scrub, but we think it’s fine all on its own too.
