Here’s 6 ways to use the new beauty cult-fave rose water

Rose water became an overnight celebrity in the beauty world – many people only using it to be apart of the hype.

There are various brands that currently make rose water products, but a go-to brand for many people is Mario Badescu’s Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rose Water (which, by the way, is only $7).

So what are the benefits of rose water anyway? A NYC based dermatologist gave Elle the inside scoop on the various benefits to using rose water, and we picked our faves to share with you.

6. You can cook with it

You can cook with rose water and not die, according to Dr. Jennifer Chwalek. Make sure it’s pure rose water, though, and not the ones mixed with other ingredients for facial products. Rose water extract is popular in many Middle Eastern like lamb stew and salads.

5. You can put it in your hair

“You can also mix a few drops of rose water in with your shampoo or conditioner to help hydrate your hair,” Chwalek tells Elle. This will help hydrate your hair and is a natural product so it won’t cause you any damage.

4. It can be a makeup remover

Mix together another cult-fave, coconut oil, with a few drops of rose water, and you automatically have an at home makeup remover which also hydrates your skin.

3. Add it to your clothes

A few drops alongside an unscented detergent would give your clothes a scent of roses and won’t damage your clothes at all, explains Chwalek to Elle. She also suggest adding rose water to the water chamber of the iron while you’re pressing your clothes.

2. Add it to your bath

Drops of rose water into your tube will not only hydrate your skin but aid in soothing and softening your skin, the more you use it the better results you’ll see. That doesn’t mean drop a load in your bath, just a few drops will do the trick, says Dr. Chwalek.

1. It will calm your skin

Rose water has so many benefits like hydrating, healing your skin, and maintaining the skin’s pH balance. It’s no wonder why so many people swear by it. “The most important skin benefits of rose water are its anti-inflammatory effects, and its antioxidant effects on free radical damage,” says Dr. Chwalek.
