Taylor Swift Isn’t Hiding The Fact That She Watches Her Weight

Unlike almost every Victoria’s Secret model who likes to claim that they can eat cupcakes and pizza a couple times a week and still maintain their toned bodies, Taylor Swift did something unusual today for a skinny person: she told the truth.

Around two and half minutes into her her “73 Questions” interview with Vogue, Taylor was asked the kind of question that anybody who’s ever been on a diet would instinctively roll their eyes at: what’s your favorite food?

In an “I can’t believe you even asked me that question” tone Taylor replies, “I mean, if we’re just saying like what I wish I could eat every day if calories didn’t count is chicken tenders.”

While it’s tempting to scoff because chicken tenders hardly seem like an indulgence, Taylor has a point. When you’re on a diet, you don’t eat fried or breaded things on a daily basis, if ever.

Instead you wake up early, you go to the gym, eat three sensible meals and at the end of the day if you’re feeling unsatisfied you bake yourself some gluten-free, dairy-free cookies (which Taylor also cops to loving) and call it a day.

Add in hanging out with her friends/cats/boyfriend, and still finding the time to write Grammy Award-winning songs, and you have Taylor’s life in a nutshell. 

Not that we’re shaming Taylor for her lifestyle at all. Instead, we’re applauding her for being honest. 

There’s no shame in being on a diet as long as you’re being healthy, which we assume Taylor is. It might not be cool to admit you’re on a diet, but when celebrities lie and say they’re just #bornthisway, it can be pretty frustrating to those of us who aren’t.

Anybody with a passing knowledge of nutrition knows that no matter how hard you work out, you can’t just eat whatever you want and still keep the weight off. Not even the Victoria’s Secret Angels have such superhuman powers — Erin Heatherton recently admitted publicly that even she was told she needed to diet more during her tenure as a model there.

More celebrities should follow Taylor’s lead on this one. It’s time to cut the shit and just be honest once and for all about what it takes to stay fit. 

Although on the flip side, if this detail about Taylor is true, than it’s also true that her favorite cocktail is a vodka Diet Coke and her favorite comedian is Kevin Hart. Guess she’s really devoted to that basic suburban everywoman persona.
