Taylor Swift’s new song doesn’t sound like a Taylor Swift song
As promised, on Thursday night Taylor Swift dropped her first song from her serious-looking new album about how everybody, including the media, is to blame for ruining Taylor’s reputation.
And the new song sounds about as ridiculous as that concept does.

“Look What You Made Me Do” is kind of all over the place.
It kind of sounds like a Peaches song, it kind of sounds like a Fergie song, it kind of sounds like an Ashlee Simpson song, but what it doesn’t sound like is a Taylor Swift song.
And there’s a very good reason for that.
As Taylor herself explains towards the end of the track: “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, because she’s dead!”
Literally if I hadn’t just swallowed my sip of water, I would have spit it out because that’s how hard I was laughing.
Honestly, I was half expecting to hear Ashton Kutcher’s voice at the end of the track telling us we’d all been punk’d and that Taylor’s real single was dropping tomorrow morning.
But that didn’t happen, so I guess we’re stuck with it as is.
As my editor Molly Mulshine pointed out, it is catchy. And right before my boyfriend rolled over and literally slept on this song, he predicted I’d be loving it in a week.
That may be, but for now my official ruling is that it’s bad, fam.
