Selena Gomez Has 8 of the 10 Most Liked Instagrams in 2016
Whether you get it or not, there’s no use denying that the Selena Gomez effect is real.
People go absolutely nuts for her and she’s spent the majority of 2016 as the most followed person on Instagram (currently, T Swift has more followers, but we all know that’s just because Sele’s been taking a break for the past three months).
But even taking all that into account, you’d never assume that the top 10 most liked Instagrams of the year would basically all be from her, right?
What about Kylie? What about Taylor? What about Kimmy and Kendall or even the boy who now thinks Instagram is hell but used to post at least three selfies a day?
Well, the joke’s on all of us, because out of the 10 most liked Instagram photos of 2016, eight of them are from Selena, and the other two didn’t come from any of the celebrities mentioned above.
The remaining two photos belong to Cristiano Ronaldo, who randomly has 82.9 million followers, which is more than Kylie but less than Beyoncé or Kim Kardashian has.
And to make things even weirder, those two pictures of his are really boring, unless you care about soccer, in which case you’re probably one of the millions of people who liked them in the first place.
Snooze fest, right?
Then again, it’s not like Selena’s most liked photos are anything super exciting either.
Her Coca-Cola ad was the most popular by far, getting 5.9 million likes.
And her next four most popular photos all got between 4.2 and 3.9 million likes, and are mostly pictures of Selena looking pouty.
Although if you remember your pop culture history, you’ll know that the black and white photo of Selena and a fan was posted during the height of her public feud with Justin Bieber, when she was trying to show him that she loved her fans more than he loved his, which gives it some extra exciting points in my book.
And her least three popular photos aren’t that much better.
Guess it just goes to show, it’s not always your best or most interesting grams that get you the most likes in the end, so don’t over think it.
