Rios Is Leaving Behind The Scenes And Stepping Into The Limelight

In a world where Latin music is dominating the charts, the lyrics of the songs touch people’s hearts, and in this context Rios makes room, a composer of Puerto Rican origins who has collaborated with artists such as Karol G., Bad Bunny, J. Balvin and Feid and too many more to name, he’s opening up to us about his projects, musical origins and everything in between.

FEATURE INTERVIEW:

Tell us how your relationship with music and songwriting began?

My passion began when I was very young. I have an uncle who is a singer, who always sang at the parties we had as a family. And one time he took me to a Luis Fonsi concert. I was 7 years old. He had won a contest, and he had won the tickets. That is my first memory when I said: one day I want to be in that place.

What is the key for you to compose a good hit song?

I think there are no secrets. I think what works is when you talk about a real story, when you put your feelings into lyrics and that is something that reaches the public. I think that when you write a song about something real that you can feel inside yourself, people connect with it.

What do you feel inside yourself about being successful at a time when Latin culture is the protagonist?

It feels amazing, and being able to be from Puerto Rico, to be able to leave my land and create a connection with American artists in Miami or Los Angeles, I always saw it as far away and being able to say that today I am achieving it is a huge blessing.

Who is your musical reference in your work?

Honestly, I have many, I clearly started with reggaeton, romantic music, but if I have to choose one person, the person I admire is Fonsi for my romantic side, more urban, surely Don Omar.

After writing for many artists, what projects do you have for the future?

Next year comes my first album as an artist, I have been working as a composer for a long time and now is the time for me to take the step as a singer and give the public songs from “RIOS” being the protagonist.

In your texts or in your work, what message do you want to transmit to the new generations?

What I try to convey in my work and in my music is that it is important to bring out what we have inside, that music is a vehicle where people recognize themselves and feel good, that they use my music to get out of a bad day or a bad moment. Let them know that something very good is always coming.

With which non-Latin artist do you see yourself doing a collaboration in 2025?

Bruno Mars! Absolutely I would like to do it because I know it is very challenging, and I would like to break that barrier.

Galore is a platform where fashion is important and speaking of this, how important is your style in your career and in your work?

I think that my style goes hand in hand with the music I make, urban music always goes hand in hand with style, Balvin is an example of that union. I love to take care of my style while maintaining my essence.

How was it to be nominated for song of the year at the Latin Grammy’s?

Having that nomination was something important because I watched the Grammy’s from my grandmother’s house, and today being present at these events is an honor but above all it is confirmation that I am doing my job well, it is a blessing.
