FEATURED INTERVIEW:

As an independent artist, you’ve made remarkable strides in the music industry. What has been the most rewarding part of your journey so far?

Undoubtedly the most rewarding part is the knowledge and learning that I have acquired working with such talented people, for me, this is much more valuable than any status.

Your collaborations with Daddy Yankee, Nicki Minaj, and Maluma have garnered immense acclaim. How did these experiences shape your approach to music?

Without a doubt, these opportunities opened many doors for me! I got to know reggaeton 21 years ago listening to Daddy Yankee from Brazil, he is a great inspiration for me, and last year I had the opportunity to have a placement on the last album of his career along with Play’n’skillz, not only me opened doors like a dream come true!

We understand you’ve contributed to the official World Cup 2022 song, “Tukoh Taka.” Can you share your inspiration behind the lyrics and what it means to be part of such a prestigious project?

Yes, the world cup music is the contribution I had with Nicki Minaj and Maluma, and the inspiration was 100% Brazil, “Tukoh Taka” comes from the percussion sound of Brazilian funk and carnival, basically, when I wrote the hook, I was doing it the percussion sound of Brazilian funk, jajaja so fun!

Growing up in a family of artists in Brazil, how did your cultural background influence your musical style and creativity?

My stepfather was a nativist singer, which is a style of music in my state, and I started singing this style of music at the age of 10, without a doubt it influenced my art and creativity a lot.

At what moment did you realize that music was your true calling?

I have always been involved with art since I was a child, music, dance, and acting, but 8 years ago I dropped out of theater school and recorded my first music video, super amateur jajaajaja but that was the moment I felt that this is what I wanted, that it was music and creation all in one that made my heart flutter

Can you take us through your songwriting process? How do you transform your thoughts and emotions into captivating lyrics?

as a songwriter you cannot depend only on your feelings to write songs (because sometimes the artist for whom we are going to write will not match your feeling and/or vision), I write songs about my feelings but I also like to create stories in my head and also to be inspired by the lives of friends and peoples that i know.

Being fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese must provide unique advantages in your music career. How do these languages influence your songwriting and performances?

influence a lot in a positive way, I love to mix the 3 languages when I write because it makes the music more global, even though Portuguese is a language that is not very used, Brazil is very big and rich in music and has many words in Portuguese and Spanish which mean the same, so it’s really nice to play with it

Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your artistic journey?

My biggest influences are Daddy Yankee, Jlo, and Anitta, I got to know reggaeton through the album “Rompe” by Daddy Yankee 21 years ago and I got addicted to the rhythm and soon after that came J-lo, a latina pop breaking barriers in the market American musical with its own style and breathtaking video music, I basically watched her videos and imagined myself there jajajaja and then came Hurricane Anitta who was the first Brazilian pop diva who broke barriers and opened so many doors for all of us who also we have the same dream, Anitta is not just a reference for me but a synonym of strength and courage, she believed in her, period.

Are there any specific Brazilian or Latin artists who have inspired your music and contributed to your growth as an artist?

yes, the 3 above that I mentioned are the main ones, but Shakira, Bad Bunny, and Karol G are artists that I love.

Your performances exude confidence and stage presence. How do you prepare yourself mentally and physically before going on stage?

gym yoga and a lot of practice prepare me mentally and physically for this.

In terms of fashion, how would you describe your personal style? Are there any fashion icons who inspire your wardrobe choices?

I dress according to my mood, I like to be very creative in dressing which speaks a lot about my personality too, sometimes I like to dress darker and sometimes more fun, and without a doubt, I have a fashion icon, Teyana Taylor, my dream wardrobe.

Many fans are curious about your beauty routine. Can you share any secrets or must-have products that help you maintain your radiant look?

I love going to bed early and waking up early, this is something that naturally keeps people young and prettier, getting the proper rest! lots of water and gym! I don’t diet when it comes to food, and I don’t make a point of doing it I love to eat, and I prefer to train twice as much as to diet, botox is also always welcome lol!

How do you navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with being an independent artist in the ever-evolving music industry?

The only way to deal with the challenges of being an independent artist in the music industry is to believe in yourself, period. no one more than you and your heart know what will lead you to success. the only approval we have to seek is our heart.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, who are looking to break into the music industry?

Write music, and never stop writing and creating, contacts and opportunities will only be valid if you have the right music.

Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations that you’re excited about and would like to share with your fans?

Yes, I’m very happy and excited about collaborations to come, but I prefer to talk when I have a release date, I’m a bit superstitious jaja.

Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations as an artist? Where do you envision yourself in the next few years?

my goals are to travel the world on tour and see everyone shaking their asses with my songs, and that’s exactly how I see my future, being happy doing what I love, I want to live on top of the world’s stages.

Can you tell us about your latest single, “Frikitona”? What inspired you to create this vibrant and infectious track?

I didn’t have a specific inspiration, the vibe was just right and my goal was to write something fun and empowering to get the crowd going it was created with two amazing producers Avedon and Alvin Anthony who made this possible!

What does the term “Frikitona” mean to you personally, and how does it relate to the overall message of the song?

Despite the song not having many lyrics “Frikitona” can have many meanings, but the meaning of “my frikitona” is strength, frikitona is a strong and forward woman who does not deny who she is, a visionary heroine, let’s say, and that it’s called “frikitona” because it thinks and moves forward, the video we recorded will represent this strength very well, the strength of a confident woman

The energy and rhythm of “Frikitona” are undeniably infectious. How do you envision fans connecting with the song, and what do you hope they take away from it?

I don’t expect anything more and nothing less than to see people dancing and having fun, people’s connection with it is just one thing, fun because it’s a song with elements of tech house, Brazilian funk, and lyrics in Spanish, I see people from all walks of life cultures and musical tastes dancing to it. God bless and so be it

As an artist who has collaborated with renowned musicians, such as Daddy Yankee, Nicki Minaj, and Maluma, how do you balance your individual style and creative vision while collaborating with others

I’m a Latin pop artist, but within that, I don’t have an individual style, as a songwriter I learned to like different styles and discover that I can sing other things too, for some people it becomes confusing, but when you’re an artist that it came from songwriting it’s natural that you wanted to write and release different styles, frikitona is a Brazilian tech, but I also have reggae songs, and I’m fine with that.
