How Much The Average American Spends On Bae’s X-Mas Gift
When deciding how much your broke-ass can afford to spend on your boo’s Christmas gift, you’re probably wondering how much they’re spending on you. After all, that seems fair.
Unfortunately, you may not want to ask your boo what their budget on your gift is. If it doesn’t bother you and you’re totally comfortable talking money with bae, go ahead and ask. But if not, don’t worry, we’ve got the stats to help you out.
Sara Skirboll, RetailMeNot’s Shopping and Trends Expert, shared data that showed the average American spends $191 on their significant other.
Sounds fair, right?
Obviously, this is just the average, and by no means a hard and fast rule. If you just started dating someone on Thanksgiving, they might not be willing to spend $200 just yet. If you’re dating a trust fund baby, maybe they’ll ball out. Either way, if you’ve been dating someone for a year or so, this sounds like a fair price point.
$200 is enough money to get a “nice-ish” piece of a jewelry, like a watch, a necklace, or a pair of cufflinks. It’s also enough to get a couple of mid-priced clothing items, which means you could buy like 10 things at H&M and look like you got them a ton of shit.
Either way, nobody knows your finances like you do. If you’re struggling hardcore, just tell bae that you hope they don’t mind a homemade gift. You’ll make up for it when you’re rich… one day.
