Stranger Things Tween Tells Mom to ‘Chill,’ Shaves Head on Camera

Are you watching Stranger Things?

Stupid question. You clicked on this article. Of course you’re watching Stranger Things. In fact, you probably finished it weeks ago, unlike me, who’s just starting it like a lame-o.

This means you’re already well aware that one of the most challenging things about the show is trying to pick which child actor is your favorite.

Mine is Mike, because he looks like a demon boy but acts like the kind of kid who through the grace of puberty might just grow up to be husband material, but we’re here to talk about Eleven, or more accurately, we’re here to talk about Millie Bobby Brown, the English actress who plays Eleven and clearly grew up in an R&B-loving household.

Before Millie shaved her head, this is what she looked like.

Blows your mind, doesn’t it?

Believe it or not, the fact that Eleven has a shaved head was not a part of the character description when Millie auditioned for the role, so it was a big surprise when the directors told her she needed to get buzzed.

“My mom was like, ‘No! That’s not happening.’ And I was like, ‘Mom. You need to chill out; it’s gonna grow back,” Millie told Elle last week.

While it’s hard to imagine ever being that chill about buzzing off my hair, it probably helped that the directors kept telling Millie how cool Charlize Theron looked in Mad Max.

TBH, drawing a comparison to similarly elfish brunette Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta may have been a more apt comparison, but whatever, Millie is 12 and probably doesn’t even know that that movie exists yet.

Either way, she did it and you can watch her do it here.
