Miley Cyrus Details Her Reason For Boycotting Red Carpets

ICYMI, last year Miley Cyrus announced that she had walked her last red carpet.

At the time, I was skeptical about how long this phase would last, but it’s been 8 months and she’s still going strong. And now that she needs to do promotion for the one million projects she’s doing, she’d finally had to explain why she’s over the red carpet scene.

So far she’s provided a variety of answers. It’s not fair to people who are starving is one. And my personal favorite is because she’s over blowing photographers kisses.

“It’s not really about the color of the carpet,” Miley said in an interview on the Today show. “It’s more about, especially women, we get yelled at to blow them a kiss and I don’t feel like blowing you a kiss. [The photographers] yell, ‘Blow us a kiss!’ Like what is going on? Who are you? And then you’re just kind of putting yourself out there for people to talk. I don’t want people to talk about what I’m wearing. That’s usually why I don’t wear too much.”

Even though yes, as any woman who has ever walked down the street would know, it is annoying when strangers ask you to blow them kisses because they like what you’re wearing, but this statement kind of makes Miley sound like a parody of a celebrity who’s trying to sound woke.

Like there is a difference between casual misogyny on the streets and photographers trying to get you to do a more interesting pose so they can have a better chance at getting their work published the next morning.

Then again, she’s just being Miley, so who really cares?

So long as she keeps wearing pasties on television and making music about her dead pets, I’ll give her a pass on just about anything she says on record.
