Inside Castle Ferreira’s WILD THINGS Pride Weekend With Tinashe
Primal glamour took over Castle Ferreira for Pride weekend, as WILD THINGS brought together an invite-only crowd dressed in feathers, fur, animal prints, and elaborate looks against the castle’s medieval backdrop. Inside, overflowing greenery and jungle-inspired details extended the fantasy beyond the dress code, while safari-ranger-clad staff welcomed guests into an evening shaped by instinct, spectacle, and queer nightlife culture.
The setting did it all, and guests blended into their surroundings, showcasing their creativity in selecting and designing outfits inspired by nature’s wildest side. This time, the setting also revealed the versatility of a venue that has become a defining destination for California nightlife.
The night drew a mix of recognizable figures from queer culture, including Zachary Willmore, Brandon Rogers, Spice from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Andrés Rigal. Disco Shrine, who performed at San Diego Pride that weekend, reflected on the night’s playful, untamed spirit, summing it up simply: “RAWR!! or meow?? I haven’t decided yet… what I do know is… it was a wild night for sure.”
The music lived up to the occasion, with Brenna Jordan, Noah Davis, FLABBERGAST, and EVAN delivering carefully selected performances and DJ sets that gradually heated the jungle Castle became for one night.
“DJing in a castle in full drag—to an intimate room of people right after a pop star performs—is a feeling that just can’t be replicated. The room is electric with energy, and it’s easily one of my favorite dance floors to play because almost everyone stays until the very last song. My style as a DJ is all about playing in the moment and taking people on a journey that matches the magic of the night,” FLABBERGAST says.
The grand finale of the wild celebration was singer Tinashe, who sent the energy soaring with “Nasty” and “No Broke Boys,” performing for an audience that by then had left behind any intention of staying tame.
WILD THINGS added another chapter to Castle Ferreira’s growing mythology, following GODS, Pride Riot, and Blood Ball. The theme changed, the crowd changed, and the night took on its own character, staying true to what has come to define the Castle’s events, with each edition creating a world of its own.
