FEATURED INTERVIEW:

1. What was the inspiration behind “Karaoke Star”?

The song was inspired by my most recent relationship. I wrote it in the middle of the pandemic when there really wasn’t much to do but go for a drive with the windows down, singing along to your favorite music. We spent a lot of time in the car, showing each other songs we loved. In the pre-section of ”Karaoke Star,” I mention some artists that I listened to a lot during that time (Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, and Paul McCartney). Honestly, many of the activities I mentioned in the song were things I had really been doing, like teaching my partner some guitar and getting dumb tattoos because he got a tattoo machine during the lockdown.

2. You said that sharing music is a language of love, what is your favorite love song to share with someone special?

That’s so tough! I find there is a different song for every mood, so it just depends. Sometimes I’ll just send a song that makes me feel nostalgic and is just a nice vibe and it’s my little way of saying I’m thinking of them… but as far as love songs go, I really love “Butterflies” by Kacey Musgraves.

3. How would you describe your fashion style?

I love vintage shopping and am influenced a lot by the 60s and 70s styles. I like a simple, effortless look like Bridgette Bardot & Jane Birkin, but it always has my own California twist to it.

4. At what age did you fall in love with music?

I’ve loved music my whole life and felt a really strong connection with it because I grew up watching my mom sing and write songs. It wasn’t until I became a young adult that I actually built up the courage to pursue it myself.

5. If you could go to karaoke with any singer, who would you go with and why?

Miley Cyrus – I just feel like she would be a good time at karaoke! I was a huge ”Hannah Montana” fan growing up, and I’ve always loved Miley.

6. How has it been working on your debut EP “Die In LA”, and what can we expect from it?

It’s been such a long process getting here… so many unexpected twists and turns, but ultimately, such an amazing experience! I’ve gotten to work with so many wonderful creatives such as Jenna Andrews, Leroy Clampitt, and Danny Spadaro, just to name a few. I’m honestly so proud of myself for getting to this point, and I’m extremely proud of this body of work and I can’t wait to finally share it all with the world! There is so much of my story and heart in this EP, so expect that!

7. What is your favorite TikTok trend right now?

I’ve loved the Wes Anderson challenge! I just feel like people are so creative and it’s fun to see how they take the mundane and make it so cinematic. Any trend where people get to use their creativity.

8. You have acted before. How do you think acting and music relate to and inspire your creative process?

Music and acting have so much in common. Both are about connecting and telling a story. It’s always been a big dream of mine to act in a project where I get to sing. I’m trying to manifest more of that, and I have been incorporating acting into my music videos. I find that when music becomes too stressful, acting becomes my creative outlet, and vice versa, so together, they keep me balanced and happy.

9. What’s a snack you always bring to the studio?

If a chai latte counts, it’s that! I always bring a chai to the studio.

10. What is your favorite song that you have written or the one you connect the most with?

I have so many beautiful songs coming out! “Die in LA” was my first single from this project, and it holds a really big place in my heart. It is my love/hate letter to my hometown, Los Angeles, and it really says something about who I am… and I genuinely love, love, love “Karaoke Star!” I feel like I am a karaoke star in life! I’m never not humming or singing something, and I feel like the song, lyrically and sonically, represents me well and is just a good vibe!
