Erin & The Wildfire Bring “Shapes In The Clouds” to the Soundscape
Get ready to get caught in an audio wildfire with the new single from the dynamic indie-pop group from Richmond, Virginia – Erin & The Wildfire. For your listening pleasure, Erin & The Wildfire are back with their new single, “Shapes In The Clouds,” where the band offers a fresh, introspective take on uncomfortable conversations through their signature dream-pop sound.
“Shapes In The Clouds” tackles the nuances between family dynamics and personal authenticity, opening doorways for connections with listeners as the song explores the emotional tensions that can come from family disagreements and societal expectations.
Through their signature unapologetic lyrical style, Erin & The Wildfire’s new single is an anthem for those who know the challenges of family politics and differing opinions in relationships.
Erin & The Wildfire’s lead vocalist, Erin Lunsford, who penned the song, shared, “Sometimes your family wants you to live your life in a way that you never pictured for yourself and that can cause some friction.”
For the lead singer, “Shapes In The Clouds” is an outlet for emotions derived from her personal experiences.
“This song came up for me in Spring of 2022 when I was having a tough conversation with a family member. I know I’m not alone in the complex feelings of frustration, love, impatience, patience, anger, and understanding that can all occur in a singular conversation with a family member that you don’t see eye to eye with. Relationships are hard and I wanted to lament about that feeling by turning it into something dance-y, pleading, and light,” Lunsford stated.
“Shapes In The Clouds” arouses feelings of misunderstanding and frustration that can come from disharmony in our close relationships. Through Lunsford’s “blunt” writing style, listeners can find meaning in lyrics like “I guess you’ll always hear what you want to hear” and “You hate me when I voice my doubts.” These lyrics get right to the point in highlighting what many experience as “generational differences” – something many of the band’s listeners may relate to.
“Shapes In The Clouds” showcases Erin & The Wildfire’s blend of catchy, upbeat rhythms with contrasting raw, relatable lyrics, creating a thought-provoking experience that moves you to dance.
Initially formed by college friends in Charlottesville, Virginia, Erin & The Wildfire have grown into a tight-knit musical tribe over the past decade. They fuse soul and indie-pop while drawing inspiration from artists like Emily King, D’Angelo, and more.
Led by vocal powerhouse Lunsford, Erin & The Wildfire’s musical fusion has been complemented by the talents of Ryan Lipps, Nick Quillen, and Matt Wood—often accompanied by Stephen Roach.
Known to deliver lyrics that dive deep into personal struggles, advocating for body acceptance and self-love while also calling attention to broader issues like climate change and gender equality in the music industry, Lunsford brings meaningful music to the soundscape again with “Shapes In The Clouds.” This dream-pop masterpiece hints at the styles of artists like Maggie Rogers and Phoebe Bridgers, filled with indie guitar riffs and punchy drums that seamlessly juxtapose the heavier message in the lyrics.
The fourth single from Erin & The Wildfire’s upcoming album, “Shapes In The Clouds,” follows the sweet release of “Lightning So Blue,” about female pleasure. The group has been working with Producer Rob Dunnenberger and recording at Spacebomb Studio (Richmond, Virginia) to create music you can dance to while also getting you thinking.
Promising to take you on a sonic journey, “Shapes In The Clouds” can be previewed on platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
