Diana Zaheer x Lincoln Parish: The Healing Power of “Over the Counter Meditations”

Over The Counter Meditations is without a doubt one of the most unique things I’ve had the privilege of reviewing in my time writing for music publication. I’ve had works in my hands that I’ve described or cataloged as “pensive”, “meditative”, “introspective” and even “new-age”, but it never really occurred to me that I’d have the pleasure of listening to a spoken word LP with legitimately metaphysical purpose. The album is an incredible and almost unprecedented collaboration between healer and teacher Diana Zaheer and ex-Cage The Elephant musician and producer Lincoln Parish.

For “Over The Counter Meditations” Zaheer and Parish joined forces to create a powerful vehicle for positive transformation and great support during pivotal moments in people’s mental health journeys. The album features entire lessons and teachings by Zaheer which were then taken by Lincoln who intuitively made music spring out of them as a way to expand the message and take it to a higher dimension where you can even listen to it through and through as a form of assisted meditation. However,  don’t go in expecting every track to be soothing and minimalistic. On the contrary, Parish made sure to provide a richer listening experience by bringing different grooves and synths into play that are a delight to listen.
