Beyoncé Beat Kim K For the CFDA Fashion Icon Award and People Are Pissed

Last night, Beyoncé surprised us all by winning the CFDA Fashion Icon Award. Not only because she’s not really known as a ~*fashion person*~ but also because everyone was pretty sure Kim Kardashian West had the award in the bag.

Even Vogue, which rarely gets this stuff wrong, had already put its stamp on Kim K, with writer Nicole Phelps convincing us Kim Kardashian was the only contender for the award.

“This year, if you ask me, there’s only one contender: Kim Kardashian West…this season, [Balmain designer Olivier] Rousteing did a very literal ode to Kim, with little sister Kendall Jenner strutting out first in Kim’s blonde extensions and a be-furred suede corset skirt and knit cardigan coat combo that looked like it was yanked from Kim’s closet…as Kanye West put it afterward, ‘She’s the source, the whole collection is based on Kim.”

Vogue also went on to note, “Other Kim-isms that are currently sweeping fashion: head-to-toe neutrals, the décolletage-showcasing off-the-shoulder coat, pointy-toed thigh-high boots and, bien sûr, the naked dress.”

We can’t resist pointing out that Vogue failed to mention that Kim is single-handedly trying to make wearing bike shorts with heels a thing, giving 2016 the new pants alternative it desperately needs, but we forgive them for failing to take notice of this burgeoning trend since that’s not really their thing.

Suffice it to say, given the scope of Kim’s fashion influence, some people are very mad that Beyoncé beat out Kim for the CFDA Fashion Icon award.

And nobody was more upset than @molestmekardash, an account that Kim Kardashian herself always keeps up with.

And then somehow Rihanna fans ended up getting into the debate because Rihanna fans and Beyoncé fans apparently hate each other.

Sigh, what hope do we have for world peace when even fandoms can’t get along?
