Skull Globe Productions and GALORE to Shoot Giallo-Inspired ARTICHOKE

Award winning director Amir Moini (Slashr) has set his new project, the giallo-inspired Artichoke. Artichoke will be executive produced and narrated by Anna Lou Castoldi, granddaughter of Giallo legend Dario Argento (Suspiria, Deep Red).

After directing video editorial at Netflix for 7 years, he went on to direct the horror short film Slashr, which premiered at Screamfest in 2023 and has since been showcased at over 25 international festivals. He will make his television directing debut in Sub/liminal, set to premiere in 2026 on Nebula. He will team with writer Adam Van Dyke of Skull Globe Productions (In the Valley).

Inspired by Giallo cinema, Artichoke stars Alyson Gorske (Obliterated, The Puppetman) as a young woman trapped in a macabre fever dream, ruthlessly exploring the cages we create for ourselves and others in complex human relationships. She will be joined onscreen by genre vet Thomas Dekker (Jack Goes Home, Swimming with Sharks).

Amir Moini will direct from Adam Van Dyke’s script. Bria O’Brien and Sam Van Dyke will produce for Skull Globe Productions (In the Valley, Paracosm). Prince Chenoa will serve as executive producer for GALORE.

Held captive in a violent relationship, a woman named Cynara (Gorske) discovers a phoropter that opens a portal to another world. In a terrifying cat and mouse chase between worlds, Cynara finally comes face to face with The Man (Dekker) and must decide what she’s willing to destroy, in order to survive.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with Skull Globe Productions, GALORE, Anna, Thomas and Alyson to create Artichoke,” says Moini. “As a lover of the visceral style of giallo and art-house cinema, we are excited to join together to create something that is both ethereal and haunting.”

Dekker enthused, “Artichoke is pure cinema. An abstract peek into a thematically complex space where sensation and visual provocation reign and narrative questions are boldly asked and then left to hang in the ripe and dazzling air of its world.”

Van Dyke shared, “It’s an honor to contribute to Artichoke. Amir and I have always shared an obsession with avant-garde horror, especially the wild, stylish legacy of Italian cinema. The emotional tug-of-war of being trapped – whether in love or within the self – gave us the perfect canvas to create something bold, genre-forward, and sincerely art-house. It’s our love letter to every influence that made us fall in love with cinema.”

Gorske is repped by Buchwald and Sweeney Entertainment. Dekker is repped by Untitled Entertainment. Castoldi is repped by CDA Studio Di Nardo.

Production will commence in early 2026 in Castroville, California, the Artichoke Capital of the World.
