MemeHouse Networks Ran DDG’s Entire Ethiopia Broadcast From Los Angeles in Real Time

When DDG announced he was going live from Ethiopia this week, fans expected the usual IRL stream. What they probably didn’t expect was that the entire production was being run from a studio in California.

According to a Thursday, March 26 press release, MemeHouse Networks powered DDG’s entire Ethiopia broadcast remotely from Los Angeles using a cloud-based setup. A dedicated team worked overnight handling audio monitoring, live switching, network management, and output control while the 28-year-old YouTuber streamed from Addis Ababa — roughly 7,000 miles away. The setup effectively replaced the need for a full on-site control room, cutting the heavy logistics and large crews that international productions typically require.

It’s not the first time MemeHouse has pulled off something like this. The company, whose projects have generated roughly five billion views in under a year, has produced streams with Ice Spice in Tokyo and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie at Radio City Music Hall. MemeHouse has also collaborated with artists like Justin Bieber, Future, Machine Gun Kelly, and Diplo through its partnership with THE LEAGUE. Head of Production Zylo Hefferan has previously said the company’s goal is to become “a Fox or NBC of livestream.”

Beyond the production itself, the trip carries a bigger purpose. Hosted by Kuriftu Resorts and sponsored by Ethiopian Airlines, the “Moonwalking in Calabasas” rapper is in the country through March 28 to bring awareness to Ethiopia’s fast-growing economy. He’s received invitations from the Ethiopian government and the Minister of Tourism, and on Wednesday, visited the Adwa Victory Memorial, where he took part in a traditional coffee ceremony.

The visit follows IShowSpeed’s record-breaking stop in Addis Ababa in January, which drew over 257,000 concurrent viewers and hit 10 million replay views in under 24 hours. Granberry is now adding his own chapter to that story, with a production model that could change how creators broadcast from anywhere in the world.
